TTSP Employees Left the Building

By: Vance Madelo

It was one clear, sweltering start of summer, in the closing days of February 2019 when all of TTSP’s operations had to stop. All data processing units were down and unplugged from power sources. The once bustling building of mouse clicks and key taps had completely turned into a different sound and scene. The occupants were clothed differently that time. They didn’t wear uniforms. They were dressed something else, because for two days they wouldn’t be designing and they wouldn’t be in their usual business activities. They came in simple clothes to pack their things. Obviously, TTSP was on to something – something bigger, and people from the workplace had to leave.

The realization of a plan that took more than a year in the making finally came – the ground was dug and it took another year to put the structure into fruition. It was quite a long wait. Thus, on the 5th of March 2019, the workforce celebrated with a simple but heartwarming occasion of blessing and inaugurating TTSP’s growth with Mr. Akihiko Mishima (TTSP Chairman), and Engr. Segismundo Exaltacion, Jr. (President) leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also in attendance were the employees, contractors and service providers. Its new, 1000-manpower capacity building, situated just across the old one, has symbolically sprouted within the premises of West Cebu Industrial Park. Hopefully, as the President, says, it is the final and permanent abode of TTSP after hopping six times from one location to another within a span of 27 years.

The construction and eventual transfer to the building is the second step after the company’s organizational restructuring was implemented last January 1, 2019 from a 40-team to a 63-team designing units, with the CESSD (CAD Engineering Subcontracting Services Department) significantly increased for subcontracting and near-shoring initiatives. The building transfer served to accommodate a bigger workforce expansion onward 2021 timeline.

TTSP taps into the vast pool of young graduates and professionals in the Philippines who could provide the skills in ship and Engineering designs to captive and non-captive markets in the global setting. It aims to proactively address the future upswing of technical designing for offshore and ship building markets. Thus, employees are being continuously polished to become leaders, mentors and technical designers. Meanwhile, current leaders are further nurtured to face the bigger challenges of strategic management. With the new facility housing an expanding workforce, renewed interest and hopes filled the atmosphere. Everyone’s spirit is high. Thus, the clicks and taps have become even noisier.
